Certifiably Sweet
Gina Sedivy of the new Sensational Bites (3751 N. Southport Ave.; 773-248-2271) has an ideal r�sum� for a pastry shop owner: a baking certificate from CHIC, stints at Tru and Artopolis Bakery, a year of heading up the kitchen at Sweet Mandy B�s. �It�s kind of an eclectic pastry shop,� Sedivy says of her new venture. �Coffee cakes, quick breads, scones, and fancier desserts like fruit tarts, �clairs; French pastries; down-home cakes like yellow cake with buttercream; truffles, rum balls, cupcakes. I do a great lemon cookie that is from my grandmother.� Drooling, Pollack sneaked in over the weekend and bought bags full of Sedivy�s confections�and was particularly smitten with the banana mini bundt cake. (The �kids� around the office scarfed down the peanut butter frosted chocolate cupcakes, but they�ll eat anything.)
